Jack West
Jack West is an ASQ certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt instructor with significant experience in teaching, mentoring, and coaching all levels of Lean Six Sigma practitioners. Dr. West is regarded as an expert in working with executives in planning and deployment aspects of Six Sigma. Dr. West also is an American Society for Quality (ASQ) Senior Master Black Belt instructor who developed ASQ’s Lean Six Sigma training material. For the last 23 years he has taught and coached hundreds of executives, and champions, over one thousand Black Belts and ten Master Black Belts through ASQ and independently.
West holds a doctorate in business administration and a master’s degree in management from The George Washington University. He earned his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Marion College.
Retired from Northrop Grumman, Dr. West after more than 35 years of experience in managing the quality of design, production, and support of military and commercial electronics, including the development, evaluation, and operation of ISO 9000-compliant management systems.
Since leaving Northrop Grumman Dr. West has guided several small and mid-sized companies through their successful deployment of Lean Six Sigma methodology.
Among his accomplishments, Dr. West is a Fellow of the ASQ and has served as its National President and Chairman. He is an alumnus of the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (1993-1997 and 1999). During his career, Dr. West:
- Was responsible for the evaluation and assessment of all management system processes performed by nearly 10,000 employees in systems that included program management, design, operations, procurement, quality, and support services.
- Managed the implementation and maintenance for ISO9000 certification and total quality for the sector.
- Led the training, mentoring, and consulting of Black Belts from other Northrop Grumman facilities across the United States.
- Lead Six Sigma Black Belt projects for Northrop Grumman delivered over $14 million in direct cost savings.
Jack holds a BS in Chemistry from Marion College as well as an MS and DBA in Business Administration from George Washington University.
